On one of my posts concerning Terri Schiavo Public Theologian commented that 19 judges have heard the Terri Schiavo case and all found in favor of the husband, Michael Schiavo. I wrote to a trusted friend concerning this but have not received a return email as of yet. I did however hear the answer on Hugh Hewitts radio show today. It seems that all of these judges have been looking at the same material that the Left Wing Radical Judge Greer gave them. They have not been looking at ANY new evidence. Public Theologian also commented that the doctors are court appointed. The court appointed doctors are suspect since the pro-death court that appointed them is the same one that demanded the feeding tube be removed from Terri last Friday. Conspiracy theory stuff? Perhaps so but a woman's life is at stake. If I must wear a foil hat to write this so be it. I will do so in favor of life. I refuse to join the pro-death squad and sit in despair over her quality of life.
Why the rush to kill this woman?
Ever hear the words follow the money trail?
Today I heard one of the nurses that took care of Terri for 1-1/2 years say that she and others heard Michael Sciavo say that when his wife dies he would be rich. He would come to the hospice and get upset if any therapy was being given to Terri. He was very anxious for the "bitch" to die. - (Nurses testimony of Michael's word, not mine) - She (the nurse) told of interaction with Terri (she laughs, feels pain and says a few words in response to questions) and no matter what Public Theologian says I will not be convinced that Terri is in a vegetative state until she gets a new trial with cameras rolling. Should testimony/evidence like this be entered into the equation? It counts for nothing on the radio but this woman and others (including a neurologist/Nobel prize nominee who spent 10 hours with Terri) will testify under oath if given a chance.
Congress ordered for a new trial to allow new evidence. Judge Pilate Whittemore was chosen (by computer?) to follow the orders of Congress. Instead he chooses to duck his head and slide out of the job. Perhaps so he would not upset his golf buddies, that is, other judges in on the caper.
(Question? Is it against the law for citizens to spit on the ground in front of a judge when he leave the courthouse?)
Then there is the sad case of a pastor in Florida who claims to know Terri is brain dead. He comes out with the left wing talking points and refuses to look at any questions put before him. For some reason he and others like him prefer to have Terri killed in a fashion that not even captured terrorists are treated. Which is more pitiable? Terri who cannot get before an honest judge? Or a flock of sheep in Florida whose pastor refuses to search for a judge and justice for Terri?

ReplyDeleteThere are two points which you need to consider:
1. If you will take the time to read the previous legal decisions, you will see that Michael Schiavo presented "clear and convincing evidence" (the highest form of legal proof) of his claims regarding the status of Terri's brain AND that the Schindler's did not contest this evidence. Their counter argument was that new therapies could help her, not that her cortex had not turned to fluid.
2. Cortexes do not regenerate themselves. Never in the history of medicine has even one case been demonstrated.
That is why no new evidence has been allowed--the only evidence that would matter is if there was some that showed cortexes regrowing in other patients who had had these experimental treatments that the Schindlers claim work, but for which not a whit of evidence exists. That and only that would justify the delay that would result in new medical tests for Terri (brain scans).
Every court that has looked at this has said that Greer has done the right thing. You may not like it, because you favor activist judges who follow what you would like to have happen, but everyone on the bench at both the state and federal level who has looked at this agrees with Greer, including the US Supreme Court.who has refused to hear the case. Greer is no liberal, by the way--he is lifelong Southern Baptist, which last time I checked was not exactly a leftwing bastion. You are too quick to call names at anybody who doesn't agree with you.
There is no rush to kill her. Her husband blew through a million dollars during eight years trying to find any kind of relief he could for her. The court found that he was a loving husband and that he was doing what she would have wanted him to do.
As for the nurse who claims Terri speaks, she is either lying or very ignorant. People with no cortex don't speak. That is not a matter on which good people can differ--it's a fact. And off of what is Michael Schiavo supposed to get rich? There is no money. And the millions he was offered he refused in disgust. Why is it so hard for you to accept that the man might simply be motivated, as other husbands are all over the country who take their wives off feeding tubes when in similar circumstances, to follow his wife's wishes to their conclusion? That thought does not seem to have occurred to you, although some other fantastic ones seem to have. You are grasping at straws, hurling argument after argument, regardless of its merits, in the hope that one will stick. But none of them do.

At this point, if she dies, she will become a martyr for the anti-euthanasia/pro-lifers. Many Americans will be disatisfied with the way the courts handled this. Too many witnesses have come forward and made statements the courts are ignoring. The Congress (legally and rightfully) replied to pleas from citizens (her parents) for redress and requested a new hearing. Florida courts are unwilling to hear testimony from anyone and the blood of this woman will be on their hands. May God have mercy on their souls.
ReplyDeleteHave you visited Terri Schiavo and spent enough time to determine her condition? Are you relying on internet sources for your facts and the truth contained therein? I'd like to remind you that in fact both of us are 'internet sources' and in reality could be anything other than what we claim to be. I might be a bum visiting a library computer as you too might be... Questionable sourced pictures of brain scans for example. I've heard people that worked with Terri give voice to her being much more than a vegetable. I've heard witnesses willing to come forth and tesify to Michaels ill behaviour concerning his wife. I've seen a man who has broken his marraige vows (Have you heard 'till death do we part'? or is your church too modern for that?) and yet demanded to keep guardianship. Many more than two witnesses as demanded by the Bible have come forth and will not be heard by the pro-death forces. One thing about the internet is that anyone can say anything and it goes forth as truth.
Activist judges from the pro-death side will clutch their 'clear and convincing evidence' to their chests and declair themselves innocent of Terri's blood. - New tests/MRI will not be conducted to even prove the validity of the last batch of cat scans. Taxpayers will sigh with relief.
Apparently Terri will not get one more chance with a judge other than Greer. (I knew a Baptist that stole from the offering plate, Southern too. - so what does his 'religion' have to do with it?) New testimony will not be allowed. The pro-death industry will go forth looking for other victims and mankind will shrug off the guilt with a to hell with it attitude.
"So it goes."

ReplyDeleteOf course she will be martyr. That's what the people that are footing the bill in this Christian jihad have always intended her to be because they have neither the law nor the science on their side. She never had a chance in the courst; all of the hoopla has just been a delaying tactic while the jihadis were whipped into a frenzy. She'll live on in the hearts of all the faithful who will forever tear up at the mention of her name. Read the Republican talking points.
Yes there is a lot of nonsense on the internet, but you can read all of the court decisions online. I have not seen her of course, but I have listened to many interviews or read transcripts of her doctors who have been tasked with her care and there is not millimeter's difference between them as to what they are saying. Read Judge Greer's judgement--the family does not even contest the physical findings of the condition of her brain. How explicit do you need things to be? When would it ever end? If the current tests were not adequate for you, why would another do the trick? Under what conditions would agree that this woman's husband ought to be allowed to carry out her wishes? Would ten more doctors do it for you? twenty? How many more courts need to certify that her husband is in the right? The only one that hasn't been asked is the the one in the Hague and you don't accept their jurisdisdiction any way. If the government was making this decision between you and your wife, would you not be the first person to howl about big brother?
Great post Paul... keep up the good work and keep praying for Terri... remembering the words of Jesus in...
