Build the Fence First!

Once again we have the U.S. government in "do something even if it is wrong" mode.

At least that is what Presidential hopeful McCain seemed to say in his comments about the "New" immigration package.

This is the first step. We can and must complete this legislation sooner rather than later. We all know that this issue can be caught up in extracurricular politics unless we move forward as quickly as opssible. This is a product of a long hard trail of negotiation, and I am sure that there are certain provisions that each of us would not agree with, but this is what the legislative process is all about, this is what bipartisanship is all about when there is a requirement for this nation and its security that transcends party lines. I am proud to have been a small part of it.

Hugh Hewitt has translated this little political diatribe for those of us who do not understand the double tounged finesse with which McCain speaks.

Deal's done. I am the guy. I made it happen. My opinion mattered, not yours. What I do in the middle of a campaign for president has nothing to do with politics. My critics are all motivated by politics. Since I have already made up my mind, no debate is necessary, so shut up. Republicans especially shut up. This is how things get done in D.C.: You roll over for Democrats. And by the way, cutting half the fence and leaving the other half subject to the whims of the anti-border security bureaucracy equals protecting national security, just like the Gang of 14 was good for the confirmation process and McCain-Feingold good for the First Amendment. So, if you didn't hear me the first time: Shut up. Sit down. I'm your nominee.

Any legislation that allows illegal immigrants to stay in the country indefinitely, as the new 'Z-Visa' does, is a form of amnesty. That is unfair to the millions of people who have applied to legally immigrate to the U.S.

"Today's Senate agreement falls short of the actions needed to both solve our country's illegal immigration problem and also strengthen our legal immigration system. Border security and a reliable employment verification system must be our first priority."

This "New" Immigration bill currently being pushed offers amnesty to 12 to 20 million people who broke the laws to get into this country. We are being told that it is not amnesty but by all definitions it is. It demands that those who came here illegally must go home for a year and then come back legally.

Yeah! Right!

The current crop of illegal aliens will not fall for that one. They most likely will cheat any which way they can (They are already lawbreakers). They will have their cousin back home verifying their compliance while they are still working at Swifts or gardening our lawns. False papers, forged documents, bribed officials etc. will be the first order of the day.

Plus this new bill cuts down the length of the fence already promised.

The wording of the complete bill has not even been finished and by the time it is 1000 pages will be produced. It has been arranged that too little time will be left for anyone to go through it and voice objections before they vote on it.

This is not a very good example of a representative government but it is typical of the current batch of "elected representatives".

prying1 sez: Our elected officials have yet to prove they have the will to enforce our current laws concerning illegal aliens. Why should we believe they will enforce this new legislation that President Bush has promised to sign?

Call 202-225-3121 and ask for the offices of Mitch McConnell, Trent Lott or Jon Kyl, the three leaders of the GOP in the upper chamber.

Google China, Hugh Hewitt and YOU

On yesterday's (18 JAN 07) Hugh Hewitt Radio Show the subject of Googles dealings with China came up.

Prior to talking about Google in such a way that it could be taken for an advertisement Hugh had stated that he owned Google stock. "Full Disclosure" he called it. A bit later a listener called in and chastised Hugh because he owns stock in Google. Wasn't Hugh aware of the China/Google deal.

For those who missed The "Google-China" deal here is a bit from the NYT dated 23 APR 06
To obey China's censorship laws, Google's representatives explained, the company had agreed to purge its search results of any Web sites disapproved of by the Chinese government, including Web sites promoting Falun Gong, a government-banned spiritual movement; sites promoting free speech in China; or any mention of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

Hugh defended himself quite eloquently (as usual for him) but one thing he missed. Hugh's site is not blocked in Google China. Nor is Generalissimo Duane's.

Check your own name and blogsite. Don't be surprised if you have not been purged.

Hurrah For Hugh!

Went to Hugh Hewitts Blog today and found he had written an article for the Los Angeles Times
After reading his article and Hurrahing three times I noticed a button near the top right side that said 'contact us'. I clicked on it and wrote the following:

Thank you for allowing your critics to voice their opinions. I have personally been an outspoken critic of theTimes and have even told people at newstands to not bother buying it unless they like the Sports Section or need the Want Ads.
Hugh Hewitt's article (Jan 23, 05 - Cover the Terror War as a War) was right and I hope you take his suggestions to heart.
You and others in power at the Times may not appreciate what President Bush is trying to accomplish in Iraq BUT there are many potential readers who do. Your self centered and egotistical opinions of yourselves and the Utopian Idealism that runs through your ranks has caused people to turn away from your paper. Want to increase your readership, thereby profits and job security? (look at your circulation and then the number of people in L.A./Orange County) Open up your pages to the other side without the smearing adjectives.
I'd suggest you do the same with La Opinion too.

I have to wonder if they will get it? - I can only suggest that others reading the article will take a few minutes, go to the L.A. Times and leave a missive encouraging them to open their pages. I would love to have to apologize for yesterday's post.

What changes should CBS make?

On yesterday's Hugh Hewitt show 1-19-05 Hugh had callers tell CBS what it would take to win them as customers. There were a lot of great calls as usual because Hugh has the smartest audience out there. (I know, I am one!) Of all the calls, some funny, some serious, not one that I heard (I did miss some) was directed at what I feel to be the real problem. That is, the writers.

The talking heads, and everyone knows they are reading off a teleprompter, are just fluff. Very few care what the face looks like.

1.) Why wait? You are loosing money here Leslie!

2.) Stop defending any and all Democrats! Hold their feet to the fire and demand that lying politicians of ANY party be ousted or not elected. This would only help the party and this country. Your behavior and lack of reporting the truth with John Kerry's bid for the office was disgusting.

3.) Tell us the news. CBS should be on top of things not reacting to bloggers. Send some people out there and uncover the graft in government. (I'm sure there is some) Get some investigations going on drugs and payola in the prison system. Search for and help break the backs of the terrorist cells in the U.S.. Need I go on?

MOST IMPORTANT
4.) Replace the news writers with people of integrity. The current batch loves to use nice qualifying adjectives for the left and demeaning adjectives for those on the right. Pro choice sounds so much sweeter than pro abortion and anti abortion sounds more harsh than pro life. The same goes for the gun issue and on and on.
