Digging Up the Mexican National Anthem

One of the things I heard concerning the new translation of the United States National Anthem is that a bit of liberty was taken in the new version.

This bit was found on KLTV 7
- quote -
The new version is sparking debate because it's not an exact translation. Some words have been changed for rhyming reasons, other phrases were changed to avoid war references. For example in the English version, "And the rockets red glare, bombs bursting in air gave proof through the night that our flag was still there", translates from the Spanish version to, "In the fierce combat, the sign of victory, the flame of battle in step with liberty through the night it was said it was being defended." - end quote -

...through the night IT "WAS SAID" IT WAS BEING DEFENDED??? - Politically Correct crapola!!! "Was said" sounds like the people were lying about it.

Well, being the prying1 that I am, I decided to check out the Mexican National Anthem and see what it read like in English. Here it is from inside-mexico.com: (a reputable??? website) - (if you want the music playing as you read this click here)

Mexicans, at the cry of battle
prepare your swords and bridle;
and let the earth tremble at its center
at the roar of the cannon.

Oh fatherland
Your forehead shall be girded with olive garlands,
by the divine archangel of peace
For in heaven your eternal destiny
has been written by the hand of God.

But should a foreign enemy dale to
profane your land with his sole,
Think, beloved fatherland, that heaven
gave you a soldier in each son.

War, war without truce against who would attempt
to blemish the honor of the fatherland!

War, war! The patriotic banners
drench in waves
of blood.

War, war! On the mount, in the valley
The terrifying thunder of the cannon

And the echoes nobly
resound to the cries of
Union!
Liberty!

Fatherland, before your children

Become unarmed
Beneath the yoke their necks in sway,

And your countryside be watered with blood,
On blood their
feet trample.

And may your temples, palaces and towers
crumble in horrid
crash,
and ruins remain
saying:
The fatherland was made of one thousand heroes.

Fatherland, fatherland, your children swear
to exhale their breath in your cause,
If the bugle in its belligerent tone
should call upon them to struggle with bravery.

For you the olive garlands!

For them a memory of glory!

For you a laurel of victory!

For them a tomb of honor!

prying1 sez: I think this needs to be rewritten so it mentions drug lords being protected by federales as the country's leaders strip from the poor what little they have...

National Anthem in Spanish?

Not long ago I wrote a post entitled: Immigration Protests Are Not the Way To Win Friends and Influence People - I would suggest that translating into Spanish and mutilating the words of the United States National Anthem in the process is not the way to do it either.

We have been invaded by ILLEGAL aliens and are being held hostage by the PC crowd.

Update: Type in - Jose Can You See - into Google Blogsearch and you will see quite a few that have a sense of humor while being incensed at the same time. Only in America!

Street Magic in Japan

Buddy sent me a link to a website that has TONS of free video clips. In the links below a magician is wandering about Japan and performing Street Magic. Great stuff in the same vein as David Blaine. A coin through glass - No problem. Everyone could do that. (If only we would practice enough) BUT WAIT! What happens next must be magic! - Here is a heads up though. If you don't have a few spare minutes to watch right now then I suggest you save the following links for a more opportune moment.

I've supplied 3 links to three of this guys magic tricks. There are more if you search for them.

If passing on by with BE or BM while at work and don't have time to copy the links now, then later you can Google my blogname - prying1 - to find this blog again. I'm hoping you at least have a few seconds to write that down.

Let me know if you figure out how these tricks are done.

Glass Magic Trick - Watch how this magician treats glass like it was water.

Shadow Chop Sticks - Watch as a pair of chopsticks are removed from a wrapper and broken by a magician's finger shadows!

Burger From a Menu - If we could teach the poor how to pull a hamburger out of a takeout menu we could cure world hunger.

Re: Gas Prices - Something To Consider

I can't understand the extreme environmentalist's liberal point of view concerning gas prices. I've heard some say that it would be only fair to raise the prices so that the U.S.A. prices are equal to those in Europe. Only then could we feel their pain. Why tey won't consider working it the other way so their prices drop to our levels i don't know.

But if gas prices were raised to those levels wouldn't the oil companies be making bigger profits? That would be an anathema to the anti corporation platform of the liberal agenda.

Ohhhh! Wait a second. Perhaps they want the U.S. Government to get the extra money.

That's it! Raise taxes so the ones who suffer most would be the poor people that drive old beaters that already get bad mileage. That will force them onto the slow, smoky, polluting busses that are run by graft and fraud ridden cities & companies.

Not to mention the rise in prices of anything and everything that travels by truck to the stores all across the nation. Whose pocket is hit the hardest? Percentage wise it is the poor of course. The same people these liberals claim to care so much about!

Great idea. Lets put a bigger burden on the poor of this nation. Then the government can ride in like a knight in shining armor and give back a pittance of what they took.

BUT WAIT!!!

Perhaps the dream of these environmentalists is already coming true. Check out these numbers:

...ExxonMobil Corp, announced profits of $36 billion. But according to the Tax Foundation, the biggest price gouging profiteer was the U.S. government, cashing in to the tune of $54 billion in oil and gas taxes.

"Tax collections on the production and import of gasoline by state and federal governments are already near historic highs," the think tank says. "In fact, in recent decades governments have collected far more revenue from gasoline taxes than the largest U.S. oil companies have collectively earned in domestic profits."

Since 1977, federal and state governments have collected more than $1.34 trillion in gasoline tax revenues in inflation adjusted dollars. That's "more than twice the amount of domestic profits earned by major U.S. oil companies during the same period," the Tax Foundation says.

prying1 sez: It is plain to see that the liberals wishes are coming true. We as a nation need to stand up and tell our elected officials enough! When we demand they drop at least some of the taxes on the fuel that runs this nation listen to them whine about how the government cannot afford it. Yet, name the time when they, our elected officials, have ever asked us, we the people, if we can afford tax hikes?

Write to your senator, state representatives and congressman quickly and simply state: Remove the taxes on gasoline at least on a temporary basis!

Hillary is Flipping While the Voters are Flopping

Some people just don't understand Hillary Clinton. Hillary's Poll Numbers are down.

Well, I don't put much stock in poll numbers but I'm sure Hillary does. It seems her numbers started dropping after she blasted Republican crackdowns on illegal immigrants as unchristian. Following this Sen. Hillary Clinton told the New York Daily News she wants US borders secured with a wall or fence, possibly surveillance drones and infrared cameras. Hmmm. This is not being well-received by illegal immigration activists.

So her numbers are down.

If people understood Hillary the numbers would not have changed a bit.

I read this in an article by Jim Kouri posted at The Conservative Voice.

- Quote - Why the sudden about-face on immigration? Well, last week a Rasmussen poll showed that only 26% of likely voters would definitely vote for Sen. Clinton while 41% would definitely not vote for her. In match-ups with Republicans such as Rudy Guiliani and Sen. John McCain, she gets slaughtered (54%-Guliani, 39%-Clinton; 52%-McCain, 39%-Clinton). So while Clinton had been lurching to the left, especially on illegal immigration, she's decided to now lurch to the right -- again.
- End Quote -

prying1 sez: Don't these people that would even consider voting for Hillary know that she is lying to the right just to fool them into voting for her? Don't they understand that Hillary is lying to the left because even they would not agree with her true socialistic agenda? (Remember Hillary Health Care?)

I guess not. These liberals are about as smart as a brain in a jar.

But then again. "41% definitely would not vote for her"... That means that 59% might or would.

Are there really that many idiots out there???

Ignore Them and Let's All Get Ripped Off!

I don't know about you but I get those credit card apps in the mail all the time. Sometimes I open them up and write "DECEASED - REMOVE FROM LIST" - on them. Then I mail them back in the prepaid envelopes. Most often I tear them in half and trash them. I'm thinking of loading fifty pounds of rocks and busted up cement in a box, sealing it and mailing it back to them with their prepaid envelope attached. How much would that cost them?

Hey! That is one way to dispose of old monitors and trashed computers. Can't dump them any more. Bad for the environment. Send 'em off to those jerks and let them deal with it. Maybe it would become cost ineffective for them to continue with the mailings but I doubt it. They must get a good enough return on the damn things to cause them to continue with the mailings.

Well visiting Ted Richardson over at Fraud, Phishing and Financial Misdeeds gave me pause for thought concerning these credit card mailings. He gives a link to Cockeyed.com that has a wonderful demonstration of what not to do with those credit card apps that appear so relentlessly. - Go see how Rob sent a ripped up, taped together, address modified form and got himself a brand new credit card. Maybe the next card with his (or your) name on it will be for someone that hangs out at the dump.

Tearing them up does no good. We need to invest in a shredder... Or mail 'em back with rocks.

By the way. Check the Google Ads on Rob's pages...

Hiltzik Sock Puppeteer Cover Up by MSM

It is OBVIOUS the NY Times and others in the Main Stream Media (MSM) don't want the public to get it. It is real simple. Michael Hiltzik, an employee of the L.A. Times set out to deceive people by posting pseudonymous comments on his blog that praised his words and personage while belittling his opponents. The NY Times missed that little bit in it's news article regarding the suspension of Mikey's L.A. Times supported blog

In other words, he would post a comment using his real name then come by later with the name 'mikekoshi' and slap himself on the back for making such a wonderful point in the first comment. He did it on his blog and the blogs of others.

Sounds like something a child would do.

I guess he did not find enough people on his side to suit his purposes. He had to bring in Harvey.

Paterico's Pontifications (Patrick Frey - A Deputy District Attorney in Los Angeles found out and posted about the deception and what is being called 'sock puppetry' of Michael Hiltzik.

The NY Times did not contact Patrick Frey for it's article (he is not in hiding) and they (as others have) got it wrong by giving him the job title "assistant Los Angeles district attorney". I have to wonder if they even went to his website which they did mention.

Once again the MSM has demonstrated it's inability to get a story straight and to open up with all the facts. Not telling the public something, hiding facts, can be more deceptive than getting the facts wrong as far as I'm concerned. Case in point is Patrick Frey is a Deputy District Attorney - NY Times said, "assistant Los Angeles district attorney" - To most of us we at least know he does something in the legal profession. Had they not mentioned even the wrong job title we would be totally in the dark regarding his work outside of blogging.

On Friday the two words Googled together - hiltzik mikekoshi - Brought up less than 20 hits. At this point in time I read 27,500 hits. (Watch it jump by one when I click 'post'.)

The main impetus for this in the blogosphere is not Mikekoshi's sock puppetry (Which reminds me of Pee Wee Herman. He was being held down by a threatening bunch of tough bikers in the biker bar and Pee Wee said, "I say we let him go!" out of the side of his mouth.) but the MSM's inability and unwillingness to come to terms with ethics AND Michael Hiltziik's unwillingness to fess up and admit he was wrong.

A simple apology at the start would have stopped the wave that is still building. This really started as not a supper big deal really. All that was needed was an apology and all could have gone on their merry way.

That is something I learned in grade school.
