NBC's Substandard Bullet Proof Vest Accusations False???

Those who have been around for a while or perhaps study history a bit might remember or know of the "Flying Wing" and the interview Clete Roberts had with Jack Northrop.

In October of 1979, reporter Clete Roberts of Public Broadcasting System (PBS) station KCET-TV conducted an extraordinary interview with Jack Northrop, founder and former president of what was then the Northrop Corporation. In the filmed interview, it is clear that Mr. Northrop was not in good health: His appearance was frail, his eyes watery, and his voice broken. But his mind appeared sharp, and his memory seemed crystal clear. Led by Clete Roberts, Mr. Northrop told his story, clearly and forcefully, for what, he said, was the first time:

The same day that General McNarney[,] who was the chief -- the military chief -- of the Air Forces, came to my office with that additional order for thirty-five airplanes, which he said was a drop in the bucket as far as the ultimate order was concerned, Mr. Millar and I were requested to visit Mr. Symington (Air Force Secretary). At that meeting, he (Mr. Symington by context)...told us that he did not want to sponsor any new aircraft companies entering the business and having to be supplied with business over the years, and that he wanted us without question to merge with Consolidated Vultee, which was then operating a government-owned plant in Fort Worth, building the B-36, as a competitor to the B-35 or B-49 [Northrop's Flying Wing bombers].

After the lengthy diatribe on Mr. Symington's part, I said, "Mr. Secretary, what are the alternatives to this demand you're making of our merger with Consolidated Vultee?" He said, "Alternatives? You'll be goddamned sorry if you don't!"

The Northrop contract was canceled in 1949 but was it because of 'Public Servants' looking for kickbacks or that the 'government' at that time did not want to carry the burden of "cost, schedule, and technical performance." (page one of previous link)

Was Clete Roberts, a well known but faltering in his career News Talking Head at the time, just pushing a story that he knew would raise hackles? - It raised mine at the time... - In fact. My hackles are still raised over the issue. Having heard both sides of the issue I'm still more apt to believe that Symington had expectations of money through the deal...

Now we have a new issue raised by the MSM through one of it's major players NBC. - Substandard Body Armor. -

NBC accused our government, in particular the Pentagon of purchasing second best for our troops. - Now NBC stands accused of using faulty information in it's report. - Will NBC reply to the accusations or just hope people don't hear about the opposing viewpoint. perhaps they will hope people forget about it and just take the original report as gospel...

One way or the other I've made up my mind concerning the issue.

All I can say about the above linked article is that I would trust Warner Todd Huston more than I would NBC...

Monday Campaign Notes - 6/11/2007

Here it is Monday again, and my supporters are probably saying to themselves, "Didn't Cary say he would have this to me by Friday, so I could look it over before posting it?"

Well, yes, I did say that. I also said to a friend a while back that I thought I could handle being a Dad, involved in the church, work full time, AND campaign for president - never mind actually be president - without running into overtime.

Overtime has been run into. My apologies. Life has a habit of getting in the way of living sometimes, and for a working stiff like me that means that sometimes my goals have to be modified.

One goal I will not modify is that of getting the Career Politicians to pay attention to We the People. Last week, the Senate failed to pass the "comprehensive immigration reform" measure - or, as I like to call it, the "giving away what so many wait their turn for" measure - and President Bush has the gall to claim that he will "talk to the GOP members" who voted against the measure. Funny, but it seems to me that those who voted against the measure were doing something a lot of people on the Hill haven't been doing - they PAID ATTENTION TO THEIR CONSTITUENTS - you know, the people they supposedly "represent" - and decided that maybe the American People really don't want to give away the farm.

I have been accused of being against immigration. Quite the contrary, I am all for immigration - legal immigration, within the boundaries and quotas that are currently in place. I have been reminded (see the comments) that my ancestors were immigrants. I have reminded right back that they were LEGAL immigrants. Oh, and they were self sufficient, created value from the natural resources, provided employment for others, were involved in government, and generally added to the country, instead of taking away.

I say all of that to say this: I care very deeply for this country. I will not allow this country to be sold up the river, given away in an immigration scandal dressed up as "reform", or corrupted any more from within. It is time for We the People to once again wrest control of this nation away from those who are making their living from the political machinations of the Hill and hand it back to the general populace, where it can be safeguarded better than it has been.

Since being deployed to the Diyala province of Iraq in November 2006, Col. David Sutherland, along with brigade Chaplain Maj. Charlie Fenton, pictured on the right, has made it a point to visit every wounded soldier and say goodbye to each and everyone of his men who've lost their life. Four of his soldiers died on one day in April 2007 and the bad news arrived at his office in waves -- a knock on the door, a note handed in by an aide, heads bowed, knowing glances exchanged. Aides say Sutherland walks to the mortuary affairs tent at his base and embraces the dead bodies of his men. "I hug all my fallen soldiers", said Sutherland. "They are my own".

Diyala province is one of the worst places in Iraq. Public beheadings of Iraqi police, tribal wars, sectarian wars and al-Qaida. "I didn't come here thinking it'd be easy. No one told me, 'You're gonna get 9 hours of sleep a night and you're not gonna lose soldiers'. But I believe this is the place for me."

"As a soldier, I want to be here on the ground," he said. "As an American, I want it to end."

Monday Campaign Notes

I received this e-mail from a close friend after he listened to the Political Pistachio Radio show from Saturday, June 2. Douglas Gibbs had invited me on as the primary guest. My friend (I'll call him "Toby") has some good points, and I will address them throughout:

Cary,

Thank you for your service to our country! I consider you a good friend and I want you to succeed!

Thank you, Toby. I'd like to succeed, also.

I agree with most everything you stand for because I'm a right-wing conservative through and through. I have, generally, just a few minor points of disagreement and they probably have to do with interpretation. I know you are serious about your concern for this country and your fellowman. But what I'm not sure about is your seriousness about being elected President in 2008. I think you enjoy the rhetoric, but not campaigning for the Presidency. And, it seems to me, you don't think or act in terms of one anticipating actually serving as the President. I hope I'm wrong.

Serious? I'm serious about getting attention paid to what We The People are trying to tell our so-called representatives. They don't seem to be listening, and if my campaign gets their attention, and they think about what they are doing to this country, then my job is finished. No, I don't enjoy campaigning - especially since I have a daughter I would rather be spending my free time with - but it is for her sake that I want this country to correct it's course back to the conservative roots it was founded on.

How does one act in anticipation of uprooting his family, living in two places, and trying to run the country when one's wife does not wish to travel? I am constantly struggling with what the future might bring. If I do end up in the Oval Office, what effect will it have on not just my family, but my church family? As you know, I'm involved in the leadership of the church - what will happen if I need to take a long break? How will the exposure affect my family and my church? Will the media dig into all the past details of everyone involved? They tend to have less compassion for past acts that have been forgiven than we as Christians do.

Let me ask a few hard questions that I think anyone who considers writing in your name on a ballot must ask-

How is voting for you not like throwing away my vote?

I can't guarantee that voting for me would not be throwing away your vote, anymore than voting for any of the candidates would be throwing away your vote. I know that voting for me would be taking votes away from career politicians, which is a good thing in the long run, but my hope is that enough dissatisfied people in both parties, the ones who have common sense, and don't like the direction the country is headed, will vote for me - and if that's enough to land me in DC, then so be it. God is in control, and places our leaders in position. Maybe this latest iteration of leadership is God's way of issuing a wake up call to this country - "See what happens when you don't pay attention?" I don't know.


Besides being a former Marine and running for President, what have you done and what are you doing that puts into action the things you stand for on a local, state or national level?

Locally - I don't use day labor. The majority of the day labor pool is in this country illegally. Yes, there are some legal residents who make themselves available through day labor, or Home Depot curb service, but I can't see taking that chance statistically. On a state level, I communicate with my representatives on the issues. On a National level, I have managed to get Ed Pastor to send me a note saying he wasn't going to respond to faxes that I have sent through a third party system - especially since he has made his position clear. So much for letting your "representatives" know how you feel. No, I didn't vote for him - but since he does "represent" my disctrict, shouldn't he know how I feel? I make my feelings known on my blog, http://www.itisobvious.blogspot.com (I'm Thinking of the "O" Word) and through comments left on other blogs.

How can you succeed when so many others (with training, experience and political clout) have failed?

Again, no guarantees. But, since I don't have the clout, I also am not subject to influence by major factors - corporations, money funds, whatever. I am an average working joe - and I think that my outlook on politics is pretty close to what the rest of the working nation is - that this country is not the first concern of the Career Politicians.

There they are. I believe when you have done a good job of answering these then you have something to offer the voting public that will cause them to hear you and consider you. I offer them only to assist you in your bid for the Presidency and not to discourage you.

Like I said before, Thank You - not only for believing in me, but for caring enough to give the feedback you have.

We all (me included) are great Monday morning quarterbacks, but the people who win games go in knowing what it takes to win. Lots of people know what's wrong (or at least think they do) - what "we the people" need is someone who not only has a plan to fix it, but can provide leadership on many levels and draw together not only friends of one's positions but enemies to them. I am unsure that it can be done without being able to understand and use politics to one's advantage - political savvy. Political savvy goes way beyond knowing the rules and the issues and certainly requires considerable experience.

You are absolutely correct - political savvy goes a long way - in the environment that is in place now. But like I asked on the program, Why don't WE THE PEOPLE know what it takes to run this country? Why the secrecy? Why the back-room dealings? Why can't the average concerned citizen step up and take part in the representative republic we call The United States of America? I think it needs to change back to being a government OF the people, BY the people, and most importantly FOR the people.

I'm not familiar with the general format, but I thought you weren't given enough time to make your major points.

I'll let Doug know. I'm sure he'd appreciate the feedback - but it is his show, and he loves to talk. That's why he has the show.

I also think I disagree with you on one fundamental point - once a society accepts law as having a place in that society the only thing that law can do is legislate what actions are acceptable in the legal sense - which is a form of morality. Law cannot by its very nature control one's thinking of murder or theft, but can only hope to curtail such socially unacceptable behavior by enforcement of restrictions and punishments. Crime may not necessarily be a sin, but our legal system is without a doubt based upon a view of the morality portrayed in the Bible.

Good point. There is also the philosophy of "societal legal agreement" - that is, once a set of rules has been agreed upon, with agreed upon consequences if said rules (or laws) have been breeched, then all in that society must abide by the same laws. If authority allows certain segments of the population to ignore the rules, or if a certain segment of the population does not receive the agreed upon punishment for not following the rules, then you have other segments of the population that will start testing which rules are enforced. Once this starts, then the segment of the population that has the moral backbone to continue to follow the rules in spite of them not being enforced will start to get very upset with authority - and either revolution or replacement is the next step.

Thanks for taking the time to voice your concerns, "Toby" - without feedback, I am not sure if I am leading a parade or marching to my own drum solo.

I've been getting a few hits lately where people Google - "warriors for innocence" spyware and malware. -

One hit came from Australia.

IN NO WAY IS WARRIORS FOR INNOCENCE ASSOCIATED WITH SPYWARE!!!

Just thinking that there might be an email going around proclaiming Warriors For Innocence is bad news and for people to not go there. I don't really know. Just guessing. - If you have gotten to this site through a Google search like this I would appreciate a note in the comments as to why you typed "warriors for innocence" spyware/malware into Google. If there is an email I'd appreciate a forward.

Warriors For Innocence has recently struck a nerve with a segment of the population that does not appreciate what they stand for, or against rather.
Warriors is against childporn on the internet. Through their endeavors LiveJournal, owned by Six Apart Incorporated, deleted over 500 of its sites or journals that it deemed as portals for pedophilia, child sex, child abuse, and other illegal activities. They hope that other Journal and blog providers will soon follow suit.

Go to this posting on Warriors For Innocence and get the first hand story about what happened and be sure to read the comments wherein some of the people in this wonderful world show they are not happy with the results Warriors is achieving.

Pfc. Jeffries was killed with two fellow soldiers, Capt. Daniel W. Eggers and Sgt. 1st Class Robert J. Mogensen, and an unnamed sailor, when their vehicle drove over an IED in Kandahar, Afghanistan. All four service members were attached to the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Afghanistan. He is survived by his wife, Betsy, and his parents Mark and Linda Jeffries.

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.

Do People Like To Be Fooled?Al Gore Is On the Loose Again!

People love magicians. Yet ultimately what is it magicians do to people?

Answer: Fool them.

That is about it. People are fooled by magicians but in such a way that it (usually) brings delight. So much so that they will pay to see a good magic act. I'm sure there are very few people that would not enjoy meeting David Blaine on the street.

One of the synonyms of magician is conjurer. Note the first sylable of that word is "CON".

Dictionary.com has these definitions (among others) for the word "CON"

–adjective
1. involving abuse of confidence: a con trick.
–verb (used with object)
2. to swindle; trick: That crook conned me out of all my savings.
3. to persuade by deception, cajolery, etc.
–noun
4. a confidence game or swindle.
5. a lie, exaggeration, or glib self-serving talk: He had a dozen different cons for getting out of paying traffic tickets.

Which brings me to the point of this posting. Some con artists (of the magician type) bring delight to people. Some of the crook and swindle type bring misery. Many a time we hear of someone having their life savings stolen from them through con artists. They are fooled into giving up whatever it is the con desires. Usually of monetary value.

Currently the talk show circuit has a con artist running amuck and a segment of our population is delighted with him. Al Gore is that person. This is in spite of it being shown and proven that he is a liar and a swindler. His purchasing so called 'carbon offsets' from himself should have given a clue to his devotees that they are being taken for a ride but NOOooo! They still dote on his every word.

His movie, An Inconvenient Truth has repeatedly been shown to be filled with fallacies yet he received an Academy Award for it. By all rights the award should be rescinded because the Academy does not give out awards for false documentaries.

Al Gore's new book, "The Assault on Reason" does the same as the movie did. It takes liberties with facts and presents them the way Al Gore wants us to see them. Slight of hand can be seen in the following lines from the book.

It is simply no longer possible to ignore the strangeness of our public discourse. I know I am not alone in feeling that something has gone fundamentally wrong. In 2001, I had hoped it was an aberration when polls showed that three-quarters of Americans believed that Saddam Hussein was responsible for attacking us on Sept. 11. More than five years later, however, nearly half of the American public still believes Saddam was connected to the attack.

This is nonsense and anyone who helps Al Gore by purchasing his book deserves to have their money stolen.

WAKE UP MR. ALGORE!!! Where did you get your numbers??? We know Sadamm did not have anything to do with the 9-11 attacks. We knew that at the time war against his government was debated in Congress. We also know that he harbored terrorists. This is not a war against Sadaam but against terrorists. Stop with the slight of hand!

The Height of Arrogance

If there is any doubt in your mind about who your "representatives" are really representing, watch the vote for cloture on the immigration bill today - or, as I like to call it, the "Unexclusive-ing of United States Citizenship" bill. That's right - just like in 1986, the "leaders" of this country feel that the only way to solve the illegal immigration issue is to make them all legal.

This would be similar to Brentwood Country Club allowing the course hoppers to become a members to avoid having a course-hopper problem, instead of firing up the course rangers and security personnel to keep the hoppers off the course in the first place.

When Reagan signed the first amnesty bill in 1986, he had the assurances of all involved that enforcement would be forthcoming. Oddly enough, the Career Politicians who gave him (and, by extension, the country) that impression lied through their teeth. I know, it's shocking to find out that people who make a habit of misleading the voting public would turn around and not tell the truth on any other subject, but there you have it. At any rate, the enforcement sections never materialized - with the result that today, nearly three times the number of illegal invaders will be handed citizenship if this bill passes. I urge you to contact your representative at (national switchboard) 202-224-3121.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the United States, it is time to wrest control away from the self-serving spoiled millionaires running the country for their own amusement and hand it back to We the People. It is time for the citizens of this country to stand up and be counted, to let the "leaders" know that they are not representing the majority will of those they owe their position to - and I am not referring to the political string-pullers with deep pockets.

I am running a write-in campaign for President of the United States. If all I do is piss off the incumbent, lazy, good-for-nothing Career Politicians, then so be it - but I want to make sure these same representatives know that it is not just my voice alone - that there is, indeed, a majority of citizens who want their country to remain sovereign.

The crowd booed South Carolina U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, a key ally of McCain in both his 2000 and 2008 presidential bids, when he said he had worked with U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., on the immigration legislation.

"It's the best bill I think we can get to President Bush," Graham said as some in the crowd shouted "No!"

Graham was cheered earlier in his speech when he talked about the war in Iraq.

After the speech, Graham said he was booed on immigration because "it's an emotional topic. People are mad."

Wrong South Carolina U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham! People are not mad. They are filled with righteous indignation!!!

Your's is one name I will remember if it ever comes up on a ballot before me. As will McCain's.

Build the Fence First!

Once again we have the U.S. government in "do something even if it is wrong" mode.

At least that is what Presidential hopeful McCain seemed to say in his comments about the "New" immigration package.

This is the first step. We can and must complete this legislation sooner rather than later. We all know that this issue can be caught up in extracurricular politics unless we move forward as quickly as opssible. This is a product of a long hard trail of negotiation, and I am sure that there are certain provisions that each of us would not agree with, but this is what the legislative process is all about, this is what bipartisanship is all about when there is a requirement for this nation and its security that transcends party lines. I am proud to have been a small part of it.

Hugh Hewitt has translated this little political diatribe for those of us who do not understand the double tounged finesse with which McCain speaks.

Deal's done. I am the guy. I made it happen. My opinion mattered, not yours. What I do in the middle of a campaign for president has nothing to do with politics. My critics are all motivated by politics. Since I have already made up my mind, no debate is necessary, so shut up. Republicans especially shut up. This is how things get done in D.C.: You roll over for Democrats. And by the way, cutting half the fence and leaving the other half subject to the whims of the anti-border security bureaucracy equals protecting national security, just like the Gang of 14 was good for the confirmation process and McCain-Feingold good for the First Amendment. So, if you didn't hear me the first time: Shut up. Sit down. I'm your nominee.

I'm John McCain and I approved of this message.

"I strongly oppose today's bill going through the Senate. It is the wrong approach. Any legislation that allows illegal immigrants to stay in the country indefinitely, as the new 'Z-Visa' does, is a form of amnesty. That is unfair to the millions of people who have applied to legally immigrate to the U.S.

"Today's Senate agreement falls short of the actions needed to both solve our country's illegal immigration problem and also strengthen our legal immigration system. Border security and a reliable employment verification system must be our first priority."

This "New" Immigration bill currently being pushed offers amnesty to 12 to 20 million people who broke the laws to get into this country. We are being told that it is not amnesty but by all definitions it is. It demands that those who came here illegally must go home for a year and then come back legally.

Yeah! Right!

The current crop of illegal aliens will not fall for that one. They most likely will cheat any which way they can (They are already lawbreakers). They will have their cousin back home verifying their compliance while they are still working at Swifts or gardening our lawns. False papers, forged documents, bribed officials etc. will be the first order of the day.

Plus this new bill cuts down the length of the fence already promised.

The wording of the complete bill has not even been finished and by the time it is 1000 pages will be produced. It has been arranged that too little time will be left for anyone to go through it and voice objections before they vote on it.

This is not a very good example of a representative government but it is typical of the current batch of "elected representatives".

prying1 sez: Our elected officials have yet to prove they have the will to enforce our current laws concerning illegal aliens. Why should we believe they will enforce this new legislation that President Bush has promised to sign?

Call 202-225-3121 and ask for the offices of Mitch McConnell, Trent Lott or Jon Kyl, the three leaders of the GOP in the upper chamber.

Tears ran down cheeks and strong men choked back emotion as the city of Hondo, NM payed tribute to fallen Marine, Steven Chavez. LCpl. Chavez lost his life on March 14, 2007 in a non-combat incident in which he was accidentally shot.

Chavez enlisted in the Marine Cops. right after he graduated in 2005. "You pray and you pray that the day never comes, and then it does," said Novelda Chavez, Chavez's mother. "Your emotions are mixed — it’s not true, it’s a bad dream, a bad dream you never wake up from."

In a letter Chavez wrote before he was sent to Iraq, he wrote:
"First of all I would like to thank everyone for your support. When I'm home on leave and when I'm away. That is so important to me. Thank you for your kind, supporting words in your letters and for the packages I've received. Those are awesome.

I've been through some pretty hard times, in the short time I've been in the Marine Corp. None harder then what I'm about to face. Yes I'm scared; nothing is scarier than the uncertainty of what your future holds for you. I'm prepared to face whatever lies ahead.

I put my life in the hands of the Lord. And pray that He guides my fellow soldiers and I down a safe path, that He will calm our fears, and give us the strength to do the job we have been trained to do, and to do that job well.

There are many lonely nights, when you're lying in your bunk thinking of family and friends, wondering what they are doing at that very moment. Wondering what mom is cooking for supper. I can almost taste the tortillas on the griddle.

I want to say to all of you tonight, I wouldn't change one thing about my life.

I've never been more proud of the choices I made in my life than the day I graduated from basic drill instructor placed that Anchor, Globe and Eagle Pin in my hand I knew then I was a UNITED STATES MARINE!

Warner Todd Huston posted an article at his Publius Forum concerning a Wisconsin State Journal opinion piece, Time To Try Educating 'terrorists' By Kevin J. Mack.

Kevin J. Mack lives in lala land. His attitude is that we simply walk up to Islamofacsist terrorists and

"Educate them to the fact that they are being deluded. That murderers of innocents don't go straight to paradise. That asking questions is not a bad thing and that blind obedience to anyone or any group is.

Of course this flies in the face of traditional religious thinking and will take some doing."

No wonder those on the left have gotten the tag, "Moonbats".

Hustun's take on the article is:

Now, I have spent much time on this inconsequential fellow in a back water paper that no one reads, so you might be asking if I am making too much out of this? I would reply that Mack’s example isn’t, by any means, the only MSM source that exhibits such ill conceived notions as is evidenced by an article in the Seattle Times that assures us that radical Muslims see the USA as the problem for a legitimate reason, in essence giving jihadists their blessing and showing that they “understand” their hate.

I had to check this Kevin J. Mack out a bit. He has submitted a couple letters to the editor previously and I found at Madison.com Archives this little ditty he wrote:

Kind of takes him off the hook for the eventual outcome, doesn't it? He started it, somebody else can finish it.

This Kevin J. Mack character really proves his ignorance concerning history. Recent history at that. Of course concerning the 9-11 attacks he would say that none of the terrorists were Iraqi's hence we should not be in Iraq.

Mack's attitude is that this is Bush's war and not a worldwide war by thugs against democracy. Thugs against Kevin J. Mack. This has me wondering if he is one of those nutters that agrees with Rosie concerning explosives at the WTC. (Bush planted the bombs and fooled the terrorists into flying into the building!)

The "Hate Bush" crowd will continue to make fools of themselves and think themselves wise and all knowing but you are right in saying it gives encouragement to the terrorist thugs. The same thugs that would ululate as they hack off Kevin J. Mack's head as he tries to present the Humanist Manifesto to them.

Everything Was Perfect ...

A man and his wife had a son. They were very proud parents, and nurtured him through his formative years. He was a perfect specimen - ten fingers and toes, all his limbs, all the right parts in the right places.

Except for one thing. The boy would not talk.

His parents tried everything they knew to get him to talk. They coaxed him, cajoled him, even consulted the specialists.

Then, one day at dinner, the boy spoke. "Pass the salt, please."

His parents were speechless. They looked at the boy, then at each other, and then back at the boy.

The father said, "Son, why haven't you spoken before now?"

The boy replied, "Up till now, everything was perfect."

Can you see the parallel to the American government? The majority of Americans have been silent - low turnouts at the polls on voting day gives witness to the fact that most Americans are/were complacent, even (dare I say it?) lazy. Well, things aren't perfect anymore.

There are minority factions who have the ears of some very high Career Politicians. The homosexual faction wants any mention of how their lifestyle is against someone's religious beliefs to be considered "hate speech" and a "thought crime." The drug culture wants their use and abuse of narcotics and controlled substances to be accepted and no longer punishable by law.

These people, instead of working to keep this country a model of a representative republic, want to have an "anything goes" attitude. Smoking dope? That's cool. Drinking and driving? No problem. Rape, assault, murder? Fully acceptable in the land of the liberal mindset. Having limits, rules, regulations, is what allows a civilization to thrive and grow. When the rules and regulations are ignored or altered to favor one group over another, then there is no longer a mindset of "All men are created equal" - there is the onset of the "victim mentality," where the individual is no longer held accountable for their own actions, but any wrong that befalls them is a direct result of events in their past; events they have no control over, and events that they will allow to control the rest of their lives.

Everything is not perfect anymore. The time has come for We the People to stand up and be heard. It's time for We the People to let the Career Politicians know that we are no longer going to allow them to rule according to how they want to fill their pocket; they need to put the United States of America back at the forefront of their dealings and negotiations.

If they can't do that, then it's time for them to be removed from their burrows and barred from politics for the rest of their lives. It's time for the Citizens to become Statesmen; for all of us who are capable and qualified to step up and run this country using common sense and strict interpretations of the founding documents. It's time for the people of this country to reclaim their birthright. It's time for everyone to be held accountable for their own actions. It's time for We the People to take responsibility for the mess we have allowed to develop.

I am campaigning to be elected President of the United States on November 4, 2008. On most states' ballots, you will need to write in my name - Cary Cartter. In a few states, specifically those that do not allow for write in candidates for the office of President, my name should appear on the ballot as an independent candidate. Either way, voting for me will not be throwing your vote away - I am a viable alternative to "None of the Above" or the "Lesser of two Evils."

A boy was told to choose between the two cotton loving bugs. He chose the smaller of the two. When asked why, he replied "I just went with the lesser of two weevils."

As President, Common Sense would be the rule, not the exception. Whining would be limited to the sound from a dog trying to get your attention. Invaders from other countries would be treated as enemy combatants, not coddled as favored guests. Armed invaders from other countries would be shot on sight. The military (both active duty, and those who need assistance after serving active duty)would be a priority at budget time. Yes, I mean VA hospitals and benefits would be taken care of before any bridges to nowhere got built.

Border Security and National Integrity would be the cornerstones of my administration. Yes, I am a Christian (actually, a Christ-follower) and I would lead with that as a background. Before anyone puts thoughts or words in my mouth - I will not advocate the establishment of a national religion. There's a rule against that, and rumors to the contrary are false.

Wake up, stand up, and let everyone know that things are no longer perfect.

Criminals on the RunWon't Be Fooled Again - - - Or will We???

Years ago, in my freshman year of high school there was one other freshman that brought pride to our entire class. I didn't hang out with him. Barely spoke to him because he ran with a different crowd. I never was sports minded (I'm still not) but still I took pride that there was ONE FRESHMAN, someone in my class that was on the VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM.

That freshman was John Goldenberg. Quite a guy! Very popular (amongst the jocks anyway) Pretty good looking. Reasonably good student. Teachers liked him and, as said before, the freshman took pride in him.

My high school even won the CIF (CA state H.S. championship) if I remember correctly for two years running. If not for two years we did at least win it once. As said before I'm not real sports minded. The fog of time is lifting some. I think we played for it twice and the second time we won.

WhooHoo! We won the CIF!

THEN!!!

The world came crashing down on the (by then Junior) class.

John Goldenberg was arrested and extradited to Mississippi. The CIF win was rescinded and all the H.S. football records had to be looked over and corrected.

It seems his real name was Jay Dennis Gould, was in his early 20's, was on the lam, wanted for bank embezzlement and finally caught. He was such a great football player because he was a good 4-5 years older than anyone else in the school.

Sure had me fooled along with everybody else. Except for the father of the girl that was concerned for his daughter's welfare. It was one man's questioning of history that revealed the past of Jay Dennis Gould (alias John Goldenberg).

John/Jay had come to town, was befriended by some people who believed his story of parents deceased, mean uncle who beat him regularly, his running away, school records destroyed when the little Mississippi school house burnt down. They took him in and helped him get into high school as a sixteen year old.

Quite the con artist. Guess that was why he was able to pull off the embezzlement and the falsification of his identity.

Which brings us closer to the present. It seems that Athens, Georgia and many in the blogging community were taken in by a man who rolled into town about a year back and established himself as an opinionated retiree who often wrote letters to the local paper, the Athens Banner-Herald.

"Norm Weatherby" also had a blog called Quantum Thought - A Palette for Thinking which had many links to other blogs. Mine included. The Blog was deleted after one final posting which said:

"Norm Weatherby is unable to Blog at this time and is asking for
everyone's prayers. He will log on again when able. Thanks for your
support."

The blog is back up at this time and has been taken over by a person only identifed as Mcdanial

Well, back to "Norm Weatherby". It seems his real name is Larry Ray Bess (66) and a fugitive who fled child rape charges in Ohio 18 years ago.

The Athens Banner-Herald story (free registration required) stated:

Bess was indicted in November 1989 on charges of rape and gross sexual imposition of a minor - a crime similar to aggravated sexual battery in Georgia - according to Wilson.

Bess also was wanted on a 1999 federal warrant charging him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Ohio prosecutors allege Bess raped his stepdaughter over a six-year period, 1983 to 1989, beginning when she was 6 years old. The assaults happened in North Royalton, a suburb of Cleveland, officials said.

Bess never was arrested, but a grand jury indicted him after the stepdaughter took her allegations to prosecutors, according to Wendy Clawson, spokeswoman for the Cuyahoga County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

"After he was indicted, he just took off," Clawson said.

I certainly hope that the stepdaughter finds some relief and comfort through his arrest and that his case is quickly settled with justice served to Bess in the way that he deserves.

One thing this posting shows is that running from justice is not new. Catching those running is not new either. I think that justice continuing the search for those running is a good use of tax dollars.

Our world is a safer place as a result.

Louise Vandertulip fussed at her son about his spending. He bought wild, overpriced hats that had flames on them or horns coming out of the top, she said.

While in Army basic training, he bought portraits of himself. His mother told him to save his money.

She's glad he didn't listen.

The hats and the pictures are all a part of her memories now.

Spc. Josiah H. Vandertulip was killed in Baghdad when his patrol came under small arms fire.

Josiah Vandertulip joined the Army right after his graduation from Irving High School in 2002. He spent a year in South Korea before being stationed at Texas' Fort Hood in February. Against his mother's advice, he volunteered to go to Iraq. She told him to wait, to go to college.

"When he was determined to do something in his heart, he would do it and hell or high water couldn't keep him from it," she said

By going, he knew someone else with a young family could be saved from serving, relatives said.

He always had the important things right, Louise Vandertulip said.

"There's a lot of rest in knowing that he died doing what he believed in and doing what he thought was right," she said.

"We have a much more real sense of the cost for the freedom that we enjoy now," said his father, Robert Vandertulip.

"Josiah was the first brand new soldiers I recieved as a dismounted team leader in Korea. He was one of the Best soldiers I have had the honor to train and work with. He loved being a soldier as much as any guy I have met. He was a great leader in the absence of his superiors. I could always count on him to make sure the mission was accomplished. I watched him change over the year I had him from a goofy kid, to a hard charging soldier."

Children, Chapstick, Cats and Motherhood

Why My Lips Stayed Chapped on Mother's Day


We had this great 10 year old cat named Jack who just recently died. Jack was a great cat and the kids would carry him around and sit on him and nothing ever bothered him. He used to hang out and nap all day long on this mat in our bathroom.



Well, we have 3 kids and at the time of this story they were 4 years old, 3 years old and 1 year old. The middle one is Eli. Eli really loves Chapstick. LOVES it. He kept asking to use my Chapstick and then losing it. So finally one day I showed him where in the bathroom I keep my Chapstick and how he could use it whenever he wanted to but he needed to put it right back in the drawer when he was done.



Last year on Mother's Day, we were having the typical rush around and try to get ready for Church with everyone crying and carrying on. My two boys are fighting over the toy in the cereal box. I am trying to nurse my little one at the same time I am putting on my make-up. Everything is a mess and everyone has long forgotten that this is a wonderful day to honor me and the amazing job that is motherhood. We finally have the older one and and the baby loaded in the car and I am looking for Eli. I have searched everywhere and I finally round the corner to go into the bathroom. And there was Eli. He was applying my Chapstick very carefully to Jack's . . . rear end.

Eli looked right into my eyes and said "chapped."

Now if you have a cat, you know that he is right--their little butts do look pretty chapped. And, frankly, Jack didn't seem to mind. And the only question to really ask at that point was whether it was the FIRST time Eli had done that to the cat's behind or the hundredth.

And THAT is my favorite Mother's Day moment ever because it reminds us that no matter how hard we try to civilize these glorious little creatures, there will always be that day when you realize they've been using your Chapstick on the cat's butt.

I don't know about you, but the choices for President are getting pretty homogenous. For the most part, the current crop of candidates have some glaring common ground - they are all Career Politicians, none of them appear to have ever needed to work for a living, and none of them seem to have a source of income outside of their investments - or rather, their family's investments.

How can they claim to be watching out for the best interests of the United States when their idea of "best interests" closely mirrors their investment list? There are not a lot of people in my neighborhood who are living off their investments. Most of my neighbors are working stiffs, just like me. Most of my neighbors don't feel represented in government, just like me.

When was the last time a candidate could say he or she was a member of the working class - with a straight face and without cue cards? And without paying hundreds of dollars for their hair to look "just right" while saying it?

I believe this is the greatest country on earth. I believe Political Correctness is tearing this country apart, on a variety of fronts - illegal immigration ("they do the jobs Americans won't" - oh, like murder, rape, and driving without license and registration?), the War on Terror ("if we talk to them, we can come to an understanding" - with a religious belief that you either convert or die?), and Liberalism. I believe that the United States needs to regain her direction and drive, and move to the forefront of the free world once again. I believe that We The People need to have our voices heard and listened to once again.
